A little insight into the creation of Clovis Crawfish...
Clovis Crawfish was a staple of my childhood. He was and is a household name for many people in South Louisiana. A real treasure, each book is filled with stories of friendship and moral lessons, Cajun French language, ecology, and music. I was lucky enough to have Mary Alice read a book or two to me in school as a child. I would never know then, that I would become a part of the story.
As a creator, I am continually inspired. One winter evening in 2016 I was reading Clovis Crawfish and the Batiste Bete Puante to my daughters. I was doing my best Cajun accent and trying my best to bring the characters to life from the page. I turned to the page of music and the song "Passe La-Bas, Bete Puante" and I tried my best to sing. I had no clue what the melody was and that's when it hit me. These simple, beautiful, Cajun French songs are here in every book. Someone should make an album of these! I quickly decided it should be me. With Clovis Crawfish behind you it's easy to get the best of the best on your team. We have created a second part to the Clovis Crawfish dynasty. I hope to make Mary Alice proud and continue her quest to keep Cajun Culture and French Language alive and accessible.
